Just played with the Apple II Emulator a little... here's how to get it
running...
(Note that I didn't think to try it in Med Res while I was off-line, so
these comments only apply to monochrome for now.. I'll check it later..)
Run EMULATOR.TOS... when the picture of an 'Apple' computer comes up on
the screen, press RETURN... that will give you some text about the program...
then press HELP...
<RETURN>, <S>croll <Q>uit ?
You'll get a screenfull of instructions on how to use the Apple monitor which
is running in your ST..!
To load BASIC, type R APPLSOFT or R INTBASIC, depending on whether you
want full Microsoft BASIC, or Apple Integer BASIC.
When BASIC is loaded, type G FA62 to execute it...
The screen should return to the picture of the 'Apple', and a prompt
should be on the 'screen' of the picture of the computer...
At that point, you are effectively running an Apple II in BASIC...
the screen in the picture simulates a 40 column Apple screen.
You can type in a BASIC program and it will RUN and LIST...
DON'T expect to be able to play BEER RUN or ELIMINATOR with this emulator...
its only the first step toward full compatibility, but it really is a BIG
step... effectively, your ST is now executing a 6502 machine language
program.
One other thing, I discovered that typing LOAD will lock the emulator up
nice and tight... since I know NOTHING about Apples, I have NO idea what
<RETURN>, <S>croll <Q>uit ?
the syntax for loading and saving programs is.. if anyone has any experience
with Apples, maybe they could give us a hand here...???
ONE LAST THING... DON'T CALL THE BBS NUMBER GIVEN IN THE PROGRAM!!!!!
Darek has moved to Toronto, and the human who answers the phone at the
number in the program will quickly become extremely annoyed if he keeps
getting calls day and night about this!!
I'll try to get hold of Darek at his new number and see if we can get any
more information... until then, have fun experimenting!!

Just got done trying out the Apple Emulator in Medium Res, after converting
the Emulator.PI3 pic to PI2... and... it doesn't work...!
Looks as if the emulator is writing to screen memory where it thinks the
'emulated screen' is, and that's not where the Med Res pic is...!
For now, it looks as if this is going to have to be monochrome only...
<RETURN>, <S>croll <Q>uit ?
I called the BBS in Toronto where Darek is a sysop, and will be trying to
get more info as soon as possible.
I was also unable to get a program loaded into memory where the emulator
could find and run it... looks like I'm going to have to learn a bit about
Apples!
